…or rather, in comparison. You can’t honestly compare Russia to Japan, right? Neither in terms of prosperity, nor in terms of strength of national popular culture, in which Japan has it far better, nor in terms of natural resources, which Japan has pretty much none of. Two very different worlds, with two very different sets of problems to them.
And yet, when I see this said by a candidate for the governor of Tokyo, I wish local politicians could be anywhere near as honest and fearless as this gentleman, speak so clearly and to the point.

I do not agree with him, and anyway, it is not my place to bother, nor do I honestly care. But if Russian politicians could even talk like this, I might actually reconsider voting. Unfortunately, when they’re sane, they talk nonsense, and when they’re crazy, they sound like they are.

ИМХО, “молодая поросль” говорит достаточно искренне.. другое дело, что в популярные масс-медиа их, естественно, не пускает цензура.. (А считать ли серьезно политиками тех, кого “пускают в телевизор”, кстати?)
Политик — тот, кто участвует в борьбе за власть, не более и не менее. Участвовать можно с любой стороны, в том числе и со стороны народа который правительство имеет. Так что все они, формально говоря, политики. :) Тем не менее, посмотреть на нашу “молодую поросль” мимо телевизора — впечатление остается крайне жалкое. Использовать русский матерный по делу, и то не могут.
