Make a wish

The locals say that if you stand inside this bell tower, look upwards and make a wish, it will come true. To prevent exactly that, the authorities locked it up. But I still managed to look out at the city far ahead of me from behind the bars.

Today downtown looked absolutely shocking. Empty. Twenty times less people and cars than usual, at 15:00. And the smoke, settled down and static like a fog. Even in the subway. You can’t see one end of a station standing on the other one. And on the Old Square you can see a total Silent Hill. [...]

This tower has been under construction for the past ten or even fifteen years, it still is, but in the fog it looks like it’s already complete somehow.
